Prof. D’Agostino, currently a Professor and Director of Rheumatology at the UniversitĂ Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome, Italy, and a Professor of Rheumatology at the UniversitĂ© Paris-Saclay, Versailles Saint Quentin en Yvelines, France, is renowned for her pioneering research in musculoskeletal imaging, particularly the use of ultrasound in diagnosing and managing rheumatic diseases.
In 2022, she was honored with the prestigious Carol Nachman Prize for Rheumatology, one of the highest honors in the field, for her groundbreaking work in using ultrasound to detect early signs of enthesitis, which has greatly improved the early diagnosis and treatment of spondyloarthritides. Her research has been instrumental in establishing ultrasound as a key diagnostic tool in rheumatology across Europe.
